Melissa Ober, LPC

Melissa received her Master of Science in Counselor Education at Central Connecticut State University after receiving a bachelor’s in both Psychology and Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Connecticut.  As a Licensed Professional Counselor she is committed to providing a safe and healing space for clients to achieve their goals and become their highest selves. Melissa views the therapeutic process as an opportunity to work collaboratively alongside her clients to cultivate positive change in their relationship with themselves as within their relationships.

Melissa’s work has been mainly trauma focused care provided through the program created by the Yale Child Study Center known as Intensive In-Home Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Services (IICAPS). She has worked effectively to provide a strength-based humanistic approach through the utilization of evidence-based treatment modalities to help clients maximize their strengths and to lead successful and happy lives. Her therapeutic style is rooted in kindness, empathy, and a sense of humor. Her sincere interest in the wellbeing of others drives her relationships with her clients and helps to foster a safe space where clients feel comfortable and seen. She also is LGBTQ+ affirming, committed to racial justice, and feels comfortable working with clients with a wide range of identities.
